Our office also offers silver filling removals for our patients.
Tooth-colored fillings
Because no one type of filling is a one type fits all, we at Classic Smiles Dentistry, take the time to discuss with our patients which procedure is right for them. Our dentist will take into consideration the extent of the repair, whether the patient has allergies to certain materials, where the filling is needed, and the cost.
Dental fillings are commonly used to treat cavities, but they’re also used to repair a broken tooth, or teeth, that have been worn down over time. A dental filling is a restorative material used artificially to restore the function of missing tooth structure. Tooth-colored fillings, or composite resin, are matched to be the same color as your teeth and used where a natural appearance is desired. The ingredients are mixed and placed directly into the cavity, where they harden. Composite resin is not the ideal material for larger cavities as the resin may chip or wear over time.
Metal- free fillings
Metal-free fillings have become popular because of their ability to restore a tooth while blending naturally with the rest of your smile. At Classic Smiles Dentistry, the dentist will decide whether metal-free or composite fillings should be used based on the aesthetics and location of the cavity. Because metal-free fillings can be color-matched, they’re typically better suited for front teeth or other highly visible teeth. They can be used to repair other areas of your smile, including chipped, broken or cracked teeth. Metal-free dental fillings allow our dentist to offer solutions based on your personal oral health.
Silver filling removals
If you are looking for a mercury safe dentist in order to have your silver fillings removed, then Classic Smiles Dentistry is the right place for you. Our dentists are both qualified and experienced in this area.
If you are replacing your silver fillings, our dentist will recommend you do so in stages. It is better to replace the larger fillings first as these cause more problems. Think of your jaw like a nutcracker, you have the hinge at the back of your mouth where the forces on those molar teeth are eight times the force on the incisor teeth, so those molars are always under more burden. Also, the fillings in those teeth tend to be bigger and better at hiding decay or causing tooth cracks. The silver filling removal procedure done in a mercury safe environment is vastly different from what you may have experienced at a pro-amalgam dental office.
