Pediatric Dentistry
Providing specialized dentistry for children and adolescents in a “child-friendly” environment is our specialty here at Classic Smiles Dentistry in Austell, Georgia. We focus on helping each child have a healthy smile that will last a lifetime.
Preventive treatments
Preventive care plays a major role in the overall oral and physical health of your child. The onset of decay can lead to a multitude of problems, some relating to oral health, and some relating to the overall well-being of your child. This is why preventive care such as proper brushing and flossing techniques, regular cleanings and exams, fluoride treatments, and early cavity detection are instrumental for your child’s developing teeth.
Restorations
Restorative dentistry will recover a tooth’s health and put strength back into the patient’s bite. Primary teeth play an important role in a child’s development including learning to eat and speak. As their adult teeth emerge, the dentist will watch your child’s bit, gum health, and work with both you and your child to protect their new teeth.
Emergency Dentistry
Unfortunately, we at Classic Smiles Dentistry know that dental emergencies do occur. However, emergency dental care does not have to mean emergency room care. Active children like to run and play, but that also means they can fall and hurt themselves. Two common pediatric dental emergencies are toothaches and knocked out teeth. Toothaches are common in children of all ages and rarely occur without cause. A knocked out tooth is a tooth that has been knocked-out of the child’s mouth completely. When both these situations occur, it is important to contact our office immediately.
Sealants
Dental sealants are a quick, easy, and a relatively cheap solution for preventing cavities. Although the idea behind sealants is not new, they’re quickly becoming the go-to treatment for kids who need extra help in the dental department. Dental sealants is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth -- usually the back teeth (the premolars and molars) to prevent tooth decay.
Fluoride Applications
Healthy gums and teeth are important to your child's overall health. Which is why your child's pediatrician will talk with you regarding good dental habits even before your child's first tooth appears. Once your child has a tooth, your pediatrician may recommend that your child receives fluoride varnish treatments.
